Today’s Encouragement is 2 Corinthians 4:6-7 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.
To give the light –
The ‘Light’ is of the knowledge of the glory of God as revealed in the face, the life, the character and nature of Jesus.
And this treasure, this Light, resides in us as believers, (ordinary human beings, jars of clay, common, unremarkable, undecorated), in order to show, that the remarkable, unexplainable, surpassing power, which is present within the Light, and which dwells within us… clearly is not from us, ordinary common humans… is from God Himself.
My friends, God dwells within us. We aren’t God, but His nature, His Spirit lives in these common clay temples of the lives of His children… and as we are able to relinquish, to surrender control of our lives to Him, He lives within, without, in and through us, common jars of clay. The Light resides, abides, and transforms us.
The clay is still present. We still have this body, we still fall into sin, we still struggle with pride and our own will over God’s will… and yet… the Light, His presence remains, ready to guide, to speak, to reveal… as we, in faith, yield to Him.
Lord help us to yield ourselves to Your Light. That Your Love may shine through us.
