Today’s Encouragement is Ecclesiastes 12:11-12 The words of the wise are like goads, and like nails firmly fixed are the collected sayings; they are given by one Shepherd. [12] My son, beware of anything beyond these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
Anything beyond these –
We believe that the Bible is the Inspired, God-breathed, Word of God to mankind, Right? We all generally believe this, although some may insist on adding qualifiers or other explanations to avoid the most uncomfortable passages…
But given our agreement at least, that the Bible holds great wisdom and explains how to have a relationship with Christ for our salvation… how to live in peace with God, how to love God and others, how to live our lives on this earth in order to store treasures in heaven, how to be free from fear and our sin and worry and…. The list is truly endless.
Assuming we accept and believe this….
Why would we turn away from this Book to other books, to other teachings, to man’s wisdom? Why would we set His Word aside to gather dust on the nightstand, desk, coffee table, dash of the car… for anything else to read?
My friends, what we read, study, watch, hear, absorb… influences our minds, we accept or reject or ponder what we read… it has influence…. Same with the music we listen to… TV we watch, social media and all the other sources of… well, anything and everything!
Father God open our minds to the truth that Your Truth is all we need.
