Today’s Encouragement is Deuteronomy 17:19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read in it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the LORD his God by keeping all the words of this law and these statutes and doing them.
Read it all the days of his life –
This passage is from God’s instructions to the kings of Israel (v14); how God expected them to rule His people. And in essence He said, the king will read my Word every day, keep it with him, and obey my laws.
Hey, if it’s good enough for the kings of Israel it’s good enough for us!
This Christian life is one of devotion. We devote, commit, dedicate, even surrender ourselves to God’s Lordship of our entire life. Some, most, or even all Sunday mornings just won’t do, Easter attendance doesn’t cut it, a quick prayer once a day won’t work… Now, there’s nothing wrong with any of these!!! But without a deep soul-surrender, a self-emptying, a complete yielding to His rule in our life… we are missing out on God’s best for us. Reading His word everyday and… keeping it! Living His word! Living within the Kingdom of God… this is truly Life! This is what we are called to! Full devotion, not an occasional nod to God… but full surrender.
Lord help us to fully give You all our devotion, to fully surrender ourselves to You.
