Today’s Encouragement is Matthew 13:44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”
Treasure hidden –
Like a miner who uncovers a nugget of gold as he’s sifting through the dirt in the mine, or perhaps it’s a vein of gold, a huge treasure! We too find, as we search, the nuggets of truth in God’s word. It may be a phrase, a parable, an inference, a single word… which we dig out, examine carefully, and find it to be a true Treasure, vastly outweighing the wisdom of this world, and with deeper meaning, truth, and power than anything we have considered before…
We each have a treasure chest of riches in our homes. It may be buried deep within a storage closet, lying idle on a desk or table, or even someplace nearby.
The Word of God, the Bible, is this treasure.
It can only be accessed when it is read and believed, and then the Treasure can bless your life. When it remains closed, unread, and unbelieved, this Treasure lies idle even though it is readily accessible, and so, goes unused, ‘unspent’, and the blessings it can bring are unrealized.
Father God help us to accept and to access this treasure which You have blessed us with, to open Your Word and feed our souls upon the Riches of Truth which You have given to us.
