Today’s Encouragement is John 14:8-9 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” [9] Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
And you still do not know me –
Friends, the disciples of Jesus were ordinary guys. Here Philip reveals this by asking Jesus to ‘Show us the Father’. Jesus responds, “Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me?” (V 10)
Sometimes I think Jesus must’ve slapped his forehead saying, ” I can’t believe y’all!” But then, He knows what is in our hearts… so He wasn’t then, and still isn’t surprised by our stupidity nor disappointed in our demeanor. He has great patience with us, not wanting anyone to fall away but allowing each life to choose or reject Him.
Like Philip, we also may’ve been ‘around Him’, at His Church, hanging with His people, for years, and yet still – we don’t know Him… Friends, there’s never a better moment than now, to confess that Jesus is Lord, and surrender yourself fully to Him. Just ask, and He will guide you.
Jesus lead us to the Father
