You Gave Me

Today’s Encouragement is Matthew 25:34-35 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. [35] For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,

You Gave Me –

Jesus told his disciples that the kingdom of heaven is like this…

Love others – and in doing so we are loving God Himself.  The kindness we show to others is kindness to God.  Shocking, sobering, amazing…. Jesus used simple kindnesses in this example, food, a drink of water, hospitality… the most basic of human-kindnesses… these are not super-spiritual challenges that Jesus is recognizing, but simple day-to-day kindnesses.

And simple day-to-day kindness to another human being… this is kindness to Our God.  Hebrews 6:10 For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do.  As we serve others, we demonstrate our Love for God.

We Love God by Loving His people… by simple kindnesses done out of Love for Him.    The homeless man on the corner may not really need to money you have in your pocket, he may be living in a decent house and just conning people for money, or he’ll use it for alcohol or drugs… (so we tell ourselves) but when you demonstrate kindness, give him what you can, what God suggests to you, this is between you and God!  What he does with it is between Him and God… what you do with what God has blessed you with… that is between you and God…

Simple human kindnesses… these things you and I do – for our God!
