Today’s Encouragement is Exodus 7:16 And you [Moses] shall say to him [Pharaoh], “The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, sent me to you, saying, ‘Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness.’ But so far, you have not obeyed.”
But so far – you have not obeyed –
Imagine the scene, Moses, the 80-year-old sheep herder, staff in hand, Aaron at his side, both standing before the most powerful ruler of his day, in his opulence, his royal palace… saying these words to him. ‘But so far, you have not obeyed!’ I almost laughed out loud. This must have infuriated Pharaoh!
Friends, God is not impressed by not intimidated by man’s power or position or possessions. God expects obedience from all human beings. We fall terribly short, but the grace of God through Jesus our Lord, saves us from our due punishment.
As for the arrogant who refuse to obey Him, God calls them out. “So far, you have not obeyed!” I suspect the implication is, ‘Oh, but you will! You WILL let my people go!’
Philippians 2:10 “…At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.”
Lord help us to recognize that no person on this earth is greater than You; and that as Your beloved children, You deeply care for us, and You have set us completely free!
