He may exalt

Today’s Encouragement is 1 Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you. 

He may exalt –

Being exalted is a good thing, right?  Well, not necessarily! Only if it is God doing the exalting.  Only if God raises you up will your position be safe and deserved. 

But we don’t want to wait, and we certainly don’t want to humble ourselves… so we run ahead of God, we tell Him to catch up to us… to bless what we’re doing, our plans, our ideas, our schemes.  This is backwards!

My friends, waiting on God, recognizing He is the authority over our lives, and not we ourselves, this is humbling ourselves, before Him.  Seeking Him and His will – first, His plans; not us, our will, nor our plans. 

And, in His time, when He knows the time is right for you, He will exalt you.  

Notice this doesn’t say, maybe someday, if you’re really good, if you do everything just right… then God will exalt you.  Nope… it says HE WILL exalt you… as you’ve humbled yourself under His mighty hand, and when the time is right.  

Trust Him, humble yourself under His hand, before His will, His plan, His timing… and HE WILL exalt you!
