Today’s Encouragement is 1 Peter 3:13-14 “Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good? [14] But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled,”
Who is there to harm you –
For most of my life I believed that, because I am saved by God’s grace, and I try to do good – then everything will go smoothly for me, and I won’t experience any suffering, sadness or loss; I will always be happy. Nice thought but it just ain’t true!
Even this verse indicates that you may very well suffer – because of righteousness! When we do it is for our own blessing. This doesn’t make sense to the natural mind- the mind of our human nature. But in God’s plan, His economy, His design… we do and will suffer for being His! He promises to be with us in every step of the way. And ultimately, in His time, He will deliver us! Which is very different, and actually much, much, better for us, than if we never experienced any suffering!
Thank You Lord for this assurance of Your blessing, even if we suffer because of our faith. You are still God; we need not fear anything. Nothing can harm us!
