Today’s Encouragement is, “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.” Psalm 136:1 NLT
His Faithful Love –
His faithful love endures forever” is repeated after every thought in this psalm to deeply reinforce the evidence and the importance of God’s Love.
The reason we praise Him in verses 1-3 is because He is good – and He is the God of all Gods and Lord of all Lords, because of His Love.
In verses 4-9, He is recognized as the Creator of all things – because of His Love. He created all things –
because of His Love!
What other reason would he create? Was He bored or lonely? He is complete in Himself and does not need anything or anyone.
We make a huge mistake in assuming God needs something from us. What could the almighty, all-powerful, all-knowing creator possibly need?
Because He is Love (1 John 4:8), Love is the greatest thing (1 Corinthians 3:13). So He wants us to know, experience, and live with Him in Love, and to live with each other in Love.
This Love of God isn’t the often-perverted, selfish love of this world, so crassly displayed in movies and on TV; His Love is selfless, sacrificial, faithful, divine, and eternal.
This God-Love is so vital to us that His first and most important instruction is to love Him, and then to love others (Matthew 22:37-39). Not because He needs our love, but because we do! We need to love God and love others for our own good and blessing.
Father God, thank You for Your Love. And for demonstrating so perfectly Your immeasurable, faithful, and enduring Love through the life, death, and resurrection of Your Son, Jesus, our Lord.
