Today’s Encouragement is, “And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching. (Jesus said,) ‘But one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.’”Luke 10:39,42 ESV
At The Lord’s Feet –
Mary sat listening to Jesus. She wasn’t working to please Him. She wasn’t serving Him. She wasn’t diligently taking notes so she could share His words with others.
She was just being with Him.
After His death and resurrection,
“The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.” Acts 4:13 NLT
Today, we can choose to be with Jesus too. We can sit at His feet, walk with Him, hear His voice, teachings, and experience His Love, by faith.
The Holy Spirit lives within each believer (1 Corinthians 6:19). We either figuratively sit at His feet, which is reading His Word, listening to His still, small voice, speaking with Him in prayer, and following His leading… or we don’t. We can choose to allow Him to lead our lives, or ask Him to follow us, or ignore Him. But the only way to the abundant life is through a relationship with Jesus.
Father, thank You for allowing us to choose to sit at the feet of Jesus and experience the transformation that He brings to all who believe in Him. Help us to listen, rest, and to just be in Your presence.
