Today’s Encouragement is, “Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him.” Philippians 3:8-9a NLT
Become One –
We usually hear this phrase regarding marriage, “and the two shall become one.” This is a mystery, as it applies to an earthly marriage and even more so to a spiritual union with Jesus.
But this is God’s plan, His highest and best, for all who believe in the Son!
These verses confirm:
[Jesus said] “I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one-as you are in me, Father, and I am in you.” John 17:21a NLT
[Paul wrote to the church] “I promised you as a pure bride to one husband-Christ.” 2 Corinthians 11:2b NLT
Similarly, in our traditional wedding vows, we include, “forsaking all others.”
This is a spiritual truth. We are becoming One with Christ. It’s not optional. It may be imperceptible, not at all obvious, to others or ourselves; it may be extremely gradual. However, my friend, it is undeniable.
We have our own will, and He always allows us to choose. We can choose to resist, clinging to our own desires and plans, or we can surrender to His way, His perfect plan. When we choose the latter, by His power at work within us, we become One with Jesus!
Thank you, Father! We admit our minds cannot logically grasp this truth. We are like sheep. But we trust Your Word, even when we don’t understand, we choose to accept Your Truth, by faith. Help us to indeed –
Become One with Jesus.
