Today’s Encouragement is, “When you hear the priests give one long blast on the rams’ horns, have all the people shout as loud as they can. Then the walls of the town will collapse, and the people can charge straight into the town.’” Joshua 6:5 NLT
All The People –
In this first battle in the Promised Land, God instructed Joshua on how things would work. He gave very clear, but odd, instructions about the way He would demonstrate His power.
After marching around in silence for six days, the seventh day got noisy! The priests blew their horns, and at the final signal, God said, “Have all the people shout as loud as they can.” And the walls will collapse.
Still today, God asks us to act in faith, obey His guidance, listen, and respond to Him. He didn’t need the shout from His people to cause the walls to collapse. He didn’t need 7 days, horns, or priests. But these are God’s ways, and beyond our understanding (Isaiah 55:8-9).
He often instructs us to do our part, to act and respond to Him in faith. He instructs, invites, and initiates, and then the response is up to us.
Our faith is active, not passive.
Examples: Ask, seek, and knock.
Give, and it will be given.
Pray in my Name.
Forgive and be forgiven.
All these are God’s invitation to act, respond to Him with “Yes, Lord!”
Thank You, Father, for giving us Your Wisdom. You’ve given us the opportunity and choice to participate in Your Kingdom by obeying You. We aren’t very good at it, we often fail, but You are patient with us! You don’t require perfection but faith. Help us choose to hear and respond, “Yes, Lord.”
