Today’s Encouragement is, “I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. Therefore, my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure.” Psalm 16:8-9 ESV
Always Before Me –
What or whom is ‘set before’ you?
We each choose what is set, or placed before, above, or ahead of us, the higher truth, the higher principle, the thing or things we worship. Each person chooses… no one else can decide for us. Some choose their own way, independence, fame, wealth, success, beauty, or recognition.
Because David chose to set God before himself, to place himself under God’s provision, his heart was not shaken when trouble came; he was glad, he rejoiced, and he dwelt secure. Because of this decision, David could rejoice, rest, and be at peace.
And so can we!
We can remember He is For us, He goes before us everywhere we go, because He is With Us. One of the wonderful names of Jesus is Immanuel, which means “God with us!”
Lord God, please help us to choose to set You always before us, that we too may dwell secure, be glad, and rejoice in Your blessings. You are always with us, and You alone have the words of life.
