If I Didn’t Love

Today’s Encouragement is, “If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:3 NLT

If I Didn’t Love –

When all is said and done. At the end of our lives. What will be the sum of it?

I have a few treasured mementos from my father, who passed a few months ago. We were very close. He lived a truly remarkable life. He wrote a dozen books, preached thousands of sermons, and counseled and helped thousands of clients. Many have greeted him in Heaven, and more still will come.

And yet he is gone. (From this life)

I hold a few trinkets of his as reminders, a few pictures of him, and many dear memories. But what was his life–his legacy?

His life was Love. He truly loved others, and he loved God.  He understood the pain of this life, which so many of us experience, and the worst of mankind.

He once shared with me a little book, which is one of my treasures and a favorite, “The Greatest Thing in the World” by Henry Drummond.  I highly recommend it.  It changed my life!

Nothing else matters, wealth, health, knowledge- nothing but Love.  “If I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.”

Father God, we have been saved and transformed by Your Immeasurable Love.  Help us now, to allow Your Love to overflow our lives to those around us, for Your glory.  We pray in Jesus’ Name.

When It’s All Been Said And Done
