Today’s Encouragement is, “Then he said to me, ‘This is what the LORD says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.’” Zechariah 4:6 NLT
By My Spirit –
This is how God prefers to act, by His Spirit. He is infinitely creative, so He can act, move, or speak in any manner He chooses (and He always chooses correctly!)
But God desires us to be aware of His infinite power He has the ability to cause things that are not – to be; and to cause things that are – not to be.
By His Spirit, He can do anything. Remember, He only “spoke” and the universe appeared! (Genesis 1)
We are of this earth, finite and limited. We think in earthly terms – and might and power are examples of these earthly terms. So, we often look for God’s actions to be by His strength, and this is certainly possible, for His strength is unlimited.
But God can move in quiet, subtle ways just as He can in powerful, mighty ways.
And always, His Spirit moves (according to God’s perfect will and timing) to achieve His purpose. We can only recognize His moving by our faith (as He designed us), rather than by our own eyesight or human understanding.
He still moves. He still speaks. He still hears.
By His Spirit.
Father God, help us to see and understand through the eyes of faith, the way You move, by Your Spirit. And Lord, please move, by Your Spirit, in our lives today. We need You.
By My Spirit
