Today’s Encouragement is, “No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” Philippians 3:13-14 NLT
Forgetting The Past –
We all have one – a Past! It’s usually not something we are proud of or would like to erase, ignore, and forget… but too often, we instead choose to wallow in it! Letting our past mistakes, experiences, or injuries bleed their infected lifeblood into our Present!
My friend, this is not healthy! Rather than rehashing the hurts and failures of our past, we are invited to live in the present and even forget our past! Even those who have enjoyed a wonderful past, whose memories are warm and sweet, must realize that the past is gone!
If we focus on what is behind us. It will cause us to stumble in the present and block our steps into the future.
Remember that we are reborn, new creations, and set free from sin and its effects on our lives! We are washed clean, made new, and looking forward to our future as His people! We are now set apart for the heavenly prize to which Jesus calls us!
The past? Forget it!
The present? Press on in the race that lies before you!
The future? Look forward to it!
Father, we know that You have Good Plans for us, to give us Hope and a Future! (Jeremiah 29:11) Help us to focus on the reality of Your Truth today and the blessings that lie ahead and choose to let go of the past.
