Today’s Encouragement is, “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 NLT
Rest For Your Souls –
We do get weary; we do carry heavy burdens! Just ask folks how you can pray for them, and you will quickly learn of the heavy burdens we all carry! This life is heavy and hard: illnesses, child custody, rebellious children, rebellious parents! Unfaithfulness is rampant, and the modern demons of addiction, depression, and narcissism… the list is endless! Who can save us?
Only Jesus! “Come to me!” He said, “I will give you Rest!”
He alone offers a true and lasting alternative to chaos, myriad problems, and burdens of life!
Remember, He told us, “In this life, you will have many trials and sorrows!” John 16:33
And just as sure is the Peace we can have in Him!
So, respond to Jesus’ truth from Matthew, lay your heavy burdens down, and instead, pick up His yoke (which means He is joining with us to bear the burden He gives us… which He said, “is light!”
Not logical, not understandable in human terms, only by faith do we lay down our many heavy burdens and become yoked with Him, to carry with Him his light burden.
Thank You, Jesus, for offering us the choice to lay down our heavy burden and instead help You with Your light burden. And so, find rest!
