Today’s Encouragement (Last day) is, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 NLT
His peace will guard –
As we experience God’s peace, then His Peace guards our hearts and minds… as we continue to live in Jesus.
The fruit borne by following the instruction/wisdom/guidance of this passage is –
God’s Peace,
beyond our ability to understand,
guarding our hearts and minds.
Most of us have enough battle scars (some may still have open wounds) to know that we need all the guarding of our hearts and minds that we can get! God’s Peace is what provides this protection! Jesus is our Shepherd, and the Shepherd guards his sheep, protects them from enemy attacks, feeds and cares for them… This is the image of Christ provided in Scripture. And this loving, caring Shepherd provides us a peaceful life… with our entire lives, hearts, and minds under His Divine All-Powerful protection.
We can choose to step outside of this protection—choosing to worry and not pray, to return to our old lives, relationships, and habits whenever we feel like it. We then have chosen not to bring our needs to God or to thank Him for all He has done for us, and the inevitable result is no Peace.
Father, help us to choose Your Peace as You have taught us in the passage. Thank You, Lord, for the freedom to choose Your Way! And for the Peace that You provide us when we do!
Peace
We the Kingdom
