Today’s Encouragement is, “The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.” John 6:63 NLT
Spirit and Life –
Jesus, speaking to His disciples, said that His words were spirit and life. He revealed that His teachings were life-giving truths that hold, especially in spiritual matters.
He often spoke of the reality of our spiritual nature and its power and superiority over our physical nature. In revealing this reality, He clarified the eternal, spiritual truth for all people and all time.
- “For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” John 4:24
- “So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.” Romans 8:6
- “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.” Romans 8:14
“If the Spirit of God truly resides within us as believers, why don’t I ‘feel’ it?”
Because this is a Supernatural truth, it is not a ‘natural’ truth like our five senses. Our intuition and our minds can’t explain, justify, or ‘sense’ the presence of the Holy Spirit within us. At times, He might reveal Himself to some (God’s choice, not ours), and the Bible records many such events. But God knows what is best for us and always guides us in the Way we should go. We can believe and follow Him or reject His guidance (Our choice)
Thank You, Father, for giving us Eternal Life through Your Spirit. Help us believe and trust Your Truth. Our finite human minds and senses are too dull. Help our doubts, questions, and unbelief. Give us Faith. We ask in Jesus’ Name.
