Today’s Encouragement is, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7
Spirit of Fear –
Over and over, God the Father, Jesus Christ, and even angelic messengers commanded us to “Fear Not!” And “Don’t be afraid.” Someone counted them, and they are repeated 365 times in the Bible. (I didn’t take the time to verify that count!) Even a few such truths are adequate to recognize – We Do Not Have To Fear Anything! We can always choose to, but we don’t have to!
This Spirit of Fear (which did not come from God) can overwhelm and dominate your mind. It will separate you from God by eroding Faith.
Instead, God gave us the Spirit of power, love, and self-discipline. The Spirit God gave us is Light; it overcomes the darkness of fear. “The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” John 1:4-5
Father God, help us choose Faith in You! Help us refuse Fear and instead trust You.
