Your Roots Will Grow

Today’s Encouragement is, “Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.” Ephesians 3:17 NLT

Your roots will grow –

Now that we have accepted Christ – He will make His home in your heart – as you trust in Him.  So, we trust Him, and the more we trust Him, the more at home He is in our hearts.  As if – our trust in Him creates a welcome, comfortable place for Jesus to live! 

And as He lives within our hearts…

Our roots grow down into His Love!  We know roots provide moisture and nourishment to support life and growth.  We nourish our lives from the abundant blessings of Jesus, grow in faith and truth, and then… overflow with Love and Strength.  

Or (and the choice is ours) we don’t place all our trust in Him; we trust ourselves, others, fate, luck, or the government… and then, Jesus is not “at home in our hearts.” We’ve chosen to ‘nourish’ our lives (let our roots grow deep) in the junk food of popular culture, man’s ideas, and Facebook memes, and so, we malnourish our souls.  Then, my friends, we will overflow with fear, doubts, confusion, worries, and bitterness.  

Choose instead to Trust Him.  Then – He will make His home in your heart, and you will grow in God’s Love and Strength! 

Father, we thank You for Your perfect gift of Jesus our Lord.  Help us look only to Jesus in trust, receive all our nourishment, and let our roots grow deep so that we are strong in Your Love.
