Whoever Believes

Today’s Encouragement is, “For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16 AMP

Whoever Believes –

God sent His Son to the world to make clear that you understand how deeply and perfectly He loves you. The Amplified Bible describes this beautifully… God greatly loved and deeply prized the world… This means YOU! 

We may dismiss such words (to our great loss) with skepticism, “Yeah, but…” (We do this a lot with scripture, don’t we?) I want to assure you, my friend, that God’s Word is Truth; it is eternal, never changing!  And it is written for everyone, every language, and all time, and every promise in His Word is true for – “whoever believes!”  

Those who don’t believe, who are continually skeptical, questioning, or doubting, are not included by their own choice. 

The blessing of eternal life belongs to “whoever believes.”  And believing is our choice, our decision.  It may need to be reaffirmed or reevaluated from time to time, but the choice is ours.  “Do I believe?” 

As with all scripture, this verse is filled with rich truth. The most often quoted and memorized sentence of any source in the world. So deep, full of meaning… and yet, still clear for “whoever believes.”

Father, how can we thank You enough (we can’t) for the unimaginable gift of eternal life, which You grant to – “whoever believes.”
