When You Ask

Today’s Encouragement is, “But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone.” James 1:6a NLT

When You Ask –

A few essential truths about prayer:

In Faith: In God alone – (today’s verse)

In His Will: Our prayer must align with, agree with, and surrender to His Will.  “And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.” 1 John 5:14

In the Name of Jesus: “You can ask for anything in my name…” John 14:13. It may be that God doesn’t even hear a prayer that isn’t asked in the Name of Jesus!  He certainly won’t hear or answer a prayer asked in my name or yours!

In Persistence: “And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.” Luke 11:9

Of course, God doesn’t have a checklist to verify that we’ve done all this perfectly before He hears or answers, but these are a few essential truths from His Word that help us understand how to pray, how to hear from Him, and how to receive answered prayer.

Father God, in Your perfect Wisdom, we know You can answer any prayer request with “Yes, No, Not Yet, or Maybe.” And we trust that Your response is always perfect and always for our best. Thank You for the privilege of prayer.
