Righteous Through Faith

Today’s Encouragement is, “I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith.” Philippians 3:9b NLT

Righteous Through Faith –

Righteousness gets a bad rap these days. The word conjures up thoughts of a holier-than-thou self-righteous person who sees themselves better than anyone else, above the rest of us. But this is a perverted concept and clearly depicts Self-righteousness.

However, righteousness by faith in Jesus Christ is best understood as a perfectly right standing and a right relationship with God because of faith in Christ: Peace with God.

Before Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, we were required to obey all of God’s laws to be right with Him, to be at peace with Him…, and to be righteous. 

But! Jesus came! And everything changed.  He did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it (Matthew 5:17). He fulfilled ALL the requirements of the law… For us… because we cannot, ever, do all that God requires! Only Jesus can – and He already did – For us! He fulfilled All the righteous requirements of God’s law – For us!  (Romans 3:21)

My friend, we can stop striving to be good enough to earn God’s love, forgiveness, and righteousness.  Because of Jesus – we ARE His righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Thank You, Father, that we are absolutely Right with You, perfectly Righteous, through Faith in Jesus Christ! Help us embrace the freedom of this Truth. Thank You for loving us this much, bringing us to You in Peace and Love.
