I AM

Today’s Encouragement is, “Jesus answered, ‘I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I AM!’” John 8:58 NLT

I AM –

Ever notice the perfect confidence of Jesus? He speaks The Truth in His Absolute Authority.

Does “I AM” sound familiar? [When Moses asked God at the burning bush, Who do I tell them has sent me?] “God replied to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM. Say this to the people of Israel: I AM has sent me to you.’” Exodus 3:14 NLT

Centuries later, Jesus echoed God’s Word, making Himself perfectly clear.  “I AM” – meaning, I AM GOD.  Not only ‘equal to God,’ not ‘just like Him,’ not ‘the same as.’  No, He said, “I AM.” 

Now, this is a mystery to us. We have nothing similar in nature to compare because, well, of course, God is Unique.  The nature of the Trinity, God the Father, Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit is alone, a unique concept.

And isn’t that as it should be? Every aspect of the nature, character, and essence of God… is entirely unique, a mystery beyond human understanding, logic, comparison, or definition.

Jesus made many “I AM” statements. One reason He came and described Himself in so many ways is that He wants us to know Him! We are his brothers and sisters, his friends, his sheep whom He cares for, and the people He died to save.

Father, You are God, the great I AM, and Jesus, existing before creation, is the I AM also.  Though we cannot fully comprehend this, we choose to believe.
