The Heavens Proclaim

Today’s Encouragement is, “The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day, they continue to speak; night after night, they make him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Psalm 19:1-3 NLT

The Heavens Proclaim –

In silence, without the need for man’s words or a voice, all of nature—in this example, just the heavens, the sky, sun, moon, stars, clouds, sunrise, and sunset—proclaims the Glory of God.

Consider just one aspect of nature: a sunset.  Every day, as the earth rotates from the sun, a magnificent display, an incredible masterpiece is created before our eyes!  Ever changing, even fleeting, unique each day, each moment… for eons, an infinitely beautiful and living work of art. Creation.

Because our earth is always turning, this sunset is perpetual. Somewhere on the earth, at every second of time, there is another magnificent, infinitely changing, sunset…

And this is just one thing! A sunset! God does it without effort; He is infinitely creative!

Once I visited the Louvre and saw the Mona Lisa… certainly a masterpiece of man’s art. Thousands wait in line for hours each day, shuffling by in single file, to behold this masterpiece.  Finally, I arrived!  “Wait, that’s it?” Sorry, but it’s small, drab, and boring!  And this is an example of what we value, man’s excellence in creating beauty?

Nothing compares to a millisecond of God’s sunset for beauty… and His sunset is less than a millisecond of His creativity, power, glory, and majesty.

Lord, open our eyes to see more of Your beauty, power, and glory. Help us to see with new eyes a broader vision of Your Greatness—the wonder of Who You Are.

The Greatness of our God
