Today’s Encouragement is, “He [Jesus] unrolled the scroll and found the place where this was written: ‘The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free and that the time of the LORD’s favor has come.’” Luke 4:17b-19 NLT
Will Be Set Free –
We’ve asked this before, “Did Jesus fail?” Ponder this for a moment. In every action, word, every interaction, every prayer… Jesus did what He said He would. He was and still is, as He said, “The Way, the Truth, and the Life.”
“Then he began to speak to them. ‘The Scripture you’ve just heard has been fulfilled this very day!’” Luke 4:21 NLT
It’s clear that He was saying that this has all been done; it is fulfilled! These words are from His mouth. Did He lie? Was He mistaken, ever?
Jesus is Lord. He Is the Son of God. He is our Master, Savior, Deliverer, and Friend. And He has set us Free! His promise has been fulfilled (see v 21). We may respond, “But, I’m not free from…” or, “There are still blind believers.” And yes, this is true, but Is Jesus wrong?
Is it possible that He was speaking of spiritual blindness, spiritual captives, and the spiritually poor? If so, then no believer is spiritually blind, captive, or poor. Right?
Father God, we ask in Jesus’ Name for a growing, deepening, and absolute faith that Jesus is the Truth and that He has done everything He has said! Just as He said, “It is Finished” (John 19:30).
