Today’s Encouragement is, “As you enter the house of God, keep your ears open and your mouth shut.” Ecclesiastes 5:1a NLT
Keep Your Ears Open –
I’m guilty. I come to God each morning with my lengthy prayer list, asking Him for blessings for myself and others. I ask for salvation for some, healing for others, deliverance, freedom, hope, protection, transformation, and the list goes on.
Have you ever jumped into a conversation with someone, found yourself rattling off endlessly, and suddenly realized you didn’t even pause to ask,” How are you?”
We are too often desperate, rushed, and even selfish in our prayer time. Now, it’s good to be sincere, earnest, and genuinely seeking God’s blessings and intervention, of course! This is what prayer is all about! And yet, my friend, we also need to hear and listen to Him! We can pause… to allow Him… to speak to our spirits and then be refreshed by His Word, Truth, and encouragement.
So, before you start your prayer, pause, wait on Him, and allow Him the honor of speaking first. Listen. Then, as you pray, continue to listen for His reply.
At times, He may be silent; at times, we must also be silent.
Remember, we are in a relationship with Him. He is Father, loving, listening, and leading. But also speaking…
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27 NLT
Try it. Pause now. Ask Him, and listen…
Father God, thank You for the privilege of being Your own dearly loved children. Help us to listen to You first and then bring You our needs and prayers. Give us ears to hear You, Lord.
