I Lift Up My Eyes

Today’s Encouragement is, “I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2 ESV

Lift Up My Eyes –

This has happened several times in my life.  I find myself frustrated, exhausted, sad, depressed, worried, obsessing, or otherwise “caught up in my own mess.”

I somehow find the strength to go for a walk.

At some point, “I lift up my eyes”… to the hills, to the sky, the clouds, to the heavens… and then I see.  I have only been looking at my needs, wants, and problems.  I haven’t lifted up my eyes to remember God is my help in all things, at all times.

But when I do “lift up my eyes” my perspective changes (literally and figuratively) and I can see that my issues are nothing compared to the vastness of God’s power, love, and provision for me. This shift in focus, my friend, is not just changing the scenery but transforming my heart and mind.

Try it, my friend. I invite you, challenge you, to “lift up your eyes” and consider His immense creation: the earth, sky, and lives of people, plants, and animals all around us. You will find a change in your perspective and a renewed sense of strength and encouragement.

Thank You, Father God. We need to be reminded so often of Your plans for us, Your Love, protection, and many wonderful promises. Help us to “lift up our eyes” to focus on You, Your Eternal Life, and not on the myriad problems of this life, which threaten to destroy us.
