The Word of Life –
Jesus, the Word of Life, existed at the beginning; He was with God, and He was God (John 1:1).
There are so many wonderful descriptive names for Him. To name just a few, Immanuel means God with us, Wonderful Counselor, Prince of Peace, King of Kings… and this, the Word of Life.
God gave us Himself, His Truth, His Way, His Life… because He loves us, because we are so desperately lost without Him, because nothing else could save us from ourselves, from our sinful nature. You see, we are not just people who sin; it is our inherent, instinctual nature to sin.
So, God, in His mercy, seeing mankind’s inability to free itself from sin… provided Jesus, The Way, The Word of Life, and Life itself. So that by believing in Jesus, we may have Life. A Life that is full and abundant (John 10:10) and Eternal Life (John 3:16).
He is The Word. The purpose of a word is to communicate, convey a message, and connect the thinking of the parties. And this is what Jesus, the Word, does… He communicates to us, with us, and connects us with the Father.
Father, we are in awe of You, who You are, Your Mercy and Love, and that You have made a way, The Way, The Word of Life, Abundant and Eternal!
