Today’s Encouragement is Romans 2:7 NLT He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers.
Keep On Doing Good-
Remember that we are saved by God’s Grace, our salvation comes from Jesus, and by our faith in Him, alone. We’re not saved by what we do; we are saved by what Jesus Christ has done.
Yet, once we are saved, we then choose how we live. And this verse advises us to ‘keep on doing good’, but not to earn or somehow make ourselves worthy of salvation… but in honor of God’s glory and grace, and because we are grateful for the eternal life He has already given to us.
We don’t do this (or anything) perfectly, but we “press on” (Philippians 3:12) in faith, doing good… because He has been so very good to us!
Now the good that we are to do is this… those things which seek after “the glory and honor and immortality that God offers.” How do we do that? One way is by demonstrating to others the love, care, concern, kindness, gentleness, and patience (Galatians 5:22-23) which Jesus exhibited while He was here on earth.
This is the character which God intends for us, and as the Holy Spirit matures us, this is who we will become and what we will do.
Father, we are ready for Your Spirit to mature us, so that we can keep on doing good, and so honor You with our lives. We pray in Jesus’ Name.
