Today’s Encouragement is Galatians 6:8 NLT Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.
Will Harvest Life –
This truth follows another absolute truth Galatians 6:7b “You will always harvest what you plant.”
When you plant corn seed; you harvest corn. Plant weed seed; you get lots of weeds!
A similar idea is drinking dirty water… all the dirt gets inside you… or clean water, which helps purify your body.
Which are we living to please? Our sinful nature/flesh or our spirit?
This is what are we feeding, nurturing, or ‘planting’ by our choices in life. What we read, watch, listen to, and think about … this is what we’re “living to please.”
We choose and we will harvest.
Choose life – Harvest life.
The Holy Spirit will (if He hasn’t already) point out the things we are doing which are feeding or ‘pleasing our sinful nature’.
We also know that we can live to please the Spirit by living a life of Faith. This is choosing to live a life of Prayer, Praise, Hope, Trust, Faith, and Love.
Father God, we admit we cannot do this on our own, (at times we don’t even want to change!) We have chosen to feed our flesh for so long and realize that we must have Your power to transform us, to empower us to live to please Your Holy Spirit living within us, and not our flesh, our sinful nature. Thank You for enabling us to pursue Your Way… and for Your Grace and Forgiveness whenever we fall back.
