Your Father

Today’s Encouragement is Matthew 6:6 NLT But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.

Your Father –

Jesus always referred to God as – Father.

“Well, of course He did, He was God’s Son.” And Yes, He was, but even in teaching us how to pray…He doesn’t begin with, “God the Creator, Most High, Almighty One” – He begins with “Dad”.

Stay with me please – Jesus’ life and teaching revealed to us that just as He is God’s son, we too are God’s sons and daughters.

My friend, your Father loves you because you are His.  Not because of what you do for Him, not because your behavior is good… but because you belong to Him. 

As a new human father holds his baby for the first time, he is filled with love, awe, responsibility, and he will die to protect this infant… simply because it belongs to him… because he is – father.

And that’s who God is. And that’s how we can (begin to) understand our God.  He is Father – He is Dad. 

Unlike our earthly dad, He is perfect in every way. (Don’t allow the imperfections of a human father distort the truth of our Perfect Father.)

Father God – thank You for not only cleansing, forgiving, transforming, giving new life, setting us free… but also adopting us as Your own… we cannot thank You enough.
