My Joy May Be In You

Today’s Encouragement is John 15:11 ESV These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.

My Joy May Be In You –

Jesus is still speaking about His analogy of the vine, its branches, and its fruit. And He is the vine, we are the branches (v5), and the fruit, although not explicitly explained, becomes clear in this next verse.  John 15:12 “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”

So, Jesus is the source, the Vine, we are the channel, the vessel, the branch, and Love is the fruit.  He asks us to abide in Him (v 4) and abide in His love (v 6). And Joy is the result!

And He has told us all of this so that- His Joy may be in us, and our Joy will be Full.  Now, did Jesus make this up? Or is this the Truth, regardless of our experience or belief? Can we truly have the Joy of Jesus, can we be full of His Joy?  How else can we read it, my friend?

Abiding in Him, remaining in a constant, dependent, and conscious relationship and connection with Jesus… leads to love for Him and for others, and this Love…

leads to His Joy filling us!

Father God, we recognize that every good gift comes from You alone. Help us to abide in Christ, to remain in relationship with Him and so, abide in Your love and Your Joy.  We confess we don’t fully understand how, but we still choose to believe Your Word. We ask that His Joy would be in us!

The Joy of the Lord
