Today’s Encouragement is Matthew 13:12a NLT To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge.
Those Who Listen –
Jesus said this in answer to his disciples when they asked why Jesus spoke to the people in parables, and He revealed the reason. So many people – just don’t listen! Romans 10:17 “Faith comes from hearing…”
Have you ever had a conversation with someone and tried your best to explain something carefully and calmly, but the person ‘didn’t hear a word you said’? Or they couldn’t or wouldn’t.
Listening is very rare. Evidently it always has been according to this passage. And only a few truly ’heard’ and understood Jesus’ teachings. Only a few hear and understand today.
But notice what Jesus explained next… about those who do listen to Him…
- More will be given!
And – They will have an abundance of knowledge!
Father, we thank you that this is us! We are Your people who want to hear, listen, and to understand, and to grow in knowledge of You. We seek to know You more, Lord! Help us listen and understand Lord, however You may choose to speak.
