A light for my path

Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 119:105 NLT Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.

A light for my path –

I took a walk late one night after sunset and it was getting darker with each step.  My mind (fearful) envisioned snakes warming on the hot pavement waiting for me to get close enough to spring at me, fangs glistening in the moonlight.  (Isn’t the mind amazing how quickly it jumps from peace to fear to fantasy?)  So to combat my irrational fear, I began to pray.

And it gradually dawned on me, “Hey, I need some light!… light would make a difference… need to ‘shed some light’ on this situation.”  Took out my phone (such handy things) and turned on the flashlight app and voila! There was light!  A few steps more and this verse came to mind.

With this light, just like an ancient lamp, only a few feet were visible from this ‘lamp to guide my feet and light for my path’ and yet, what a difference it made in my circumstances! Peace returned, and I enjoyed the walk again.  All because Light was present in the surrounding darkness!

My friends, God’s Word shows us the way, a Light in the darkness.  Jesus is the Word and He is the Light and… He shows us the WAY!

Lord Help us walk in Your Light, relying on you to dispel and remove whatever darkness we face.
