Today’s Encouragement (is still, and this is the last) Philippians 4:6-7 NLT Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. [7] Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
His peace will guard –
When we experience God’s peace, then His Peace guards our hearts and minds… as we continue to live in Jesus.
The fruit borne by following the instruction/wisdom/guidance of this passage… is God’s Peace, beyond our ability to understand, guarding our hearts and minds.
Most of us already have enough battle scars, some still open wounds, in this life to know that we need all the guarding of our hearts and minds that we can get! God’s Peace is what provides this protection! Jesus is our Shepherd, and the Shepherd guards his sheep, protects them from the attacks of all enemies, feeds and cares for them… This is the image of Christ which we are provided in Scripture. And this loving, caring Shepherd, provides for us a peaceful life… with our entire lives, hearts and minds under His Divine All-Powerful protection.
Yet we can choose to live outside of this protection, when we choose – to worry and not to pray, when we choose not to bring our needs to God or to thank Him for all He has done for us… then we have no Peace. The choice is ours, as God’s beloved, chosen sons and daughters… we can live within His Peace, with our minds and hearts guarded by Him… OR we can live a life of worry, with our hearts and minds unprotected, harassed by the cares of this life.
Father help us to choose Your Peace as You have taught us in the passage. Thank You Lord for the freedom to choose Your Way! And for the Peace You provide us when we do!
