Today’s Encouragement is Luke 24:49 [Jesus said] “And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father [the Holy Spirit] upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”
Power from on high –
Remember, the disciples all ran away when he was arrested, later they were cowering behind locked doors after the crucifixion, for fear of the Jewish leaders (John 20:19). They even went back to their old jobs, fishing, in John 21, apparently giving up on His ministry and calling.
However, in Acts 2, the disciples were ‘clothed with power from on high’…at Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and then Peter began preach… and 3000 souls (v 41) were saved on that day!
My Friends, these ordinary, even fearful, selfish men were transformed with God’s Power at Pentecost… and they then proclaimed ‘Jesus is Lord’ even to martyrdom!
This is what God can do, will do, when we surrender to Him. He will give us strength and power which we did not have before… in order to proclaim His message of Hope, Love and Salvation to this world so desperately in need of Him.
He used the ordinary men called disciples 2000 years ago; He can use you and me today!
Father help us to surrender ourselves to You, we are ready to be used by You to proclaim Your love and mercy and salvation to those around us! Give us Your power and strength Father, for Your glory alone!
