Today’s Encouragement is, “These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold-though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.” 1 Peter 1:7
More Precious Than Gold –
Gold has always been the standard for value and wealth. But far more precious than this earthly treasure is Our Faith.
In a similar manner to the refining process of gold, which is purified by fire, heated to the point where the impurities can be removed, so too our faith is purified by the ’fire’ of many trials. Disappointment, grief, tragedy, and betrayal, there are many types of trials in this life.
But for all who believe in Jesus, these trials serve a purpose! They show that our faith is genuine!
Remember Job, when he suffered immeasurable loss of all his wealth, all his family, and his own health… he still refused to “curse God and die” as his wife advised him. And his faith, “more precious than mere gold,” remained throughout the trials, and finally he was doubly restored all that he had lost.
More than the wealth of this world, our Faith is most Precious. So, stay Strong. Choose to Trust Him, come what may. Because one wonderful day, “it will bring you much praise and glory and honor!”
Thank You, Father, for revealing the truth to Your people; and advising us to stand strong in Faith through the many trials of this earthly life, so that our precious faith is proved genuine.
