Today’s Encouragement is, “So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while.” 1 Peter 1:6 NLT
Wonderful Joy Ahead –
Peter invites and encourages us to be truly glad! There is a blessing ahead, wonderful joy! We must endure the many trials of this earthly life; these are unavoidable, but by faith and because we have God’s word to instruct us, we can be assured and even be glad, because there is Wonderful Joy ahead!
Notice how he describes what lies ahead for us, we can be truly glad because wonderful Joy is ahead of us. The promise is not only peace, rest, and contentment, but even more; it will be Wonderful Joy!
We all recognize and have experienced the reward of enduring hardship. Work hard, and there will be some reward. A little sacrifice now leads to a greater result later. This principle is universally accepted, and it applies to, perhaps originated from, spiritual matters as well.
Consider:
Jesus endured the cross because of the Joy set before Him. (Hebrews 12:2)
God’s people endured 40 years in the wilderness before entering the promised land.
We endure the difficulties and troubles in this life (but only for a little while) before we enter paradise with Him.
And Jesus has gone ahead to prepare a place for us. A place where there is no more pain or suffering… Nothing there to endure! Our eternity is Wonderful Joy!
Thank you, Father, for assuring us of the Wonderful Joy that awaits us with You.
