Today’s Encouragement is, “And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world.” 1 John 4:17 NLT
Face Him With Confidence –
We are exploring God’s Love together in 1 John 4. We’ve seen that God is Love (v8), God loves us (v16), we receive and embrace (put our trust in) God’s Love, and the result is that we love God (v16), we love others (v11), and our love grows more perfect (v17). This is what is meant here by living ‘like Jesus in the world.’
Living Like Jesus is not about performance and perfection but rather about dedication and direction. Our dedication is to Him, and our direction is towards God, towards Love from Him, to Him, and to others.
And as our love is made more perfect, we become more and more ready, prepared, and even longing to – Face Him with Confidence!
Our confidence grows out of this Love, God’s Love, living in and through us.
Jesus described this love, “I tell you, her sins-and they are many-have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.” Luke 7:47. The more we understand God’s grace, His undeserved favor and forgiveness, the clearer His Love becomes, and our love for Him, and others, grows as we accept His Love for us.
Thank You, Father God, that we can one day, even today, Face You with Confidence! Confidence in Your Immeasurable, Perfect Love for us, and our full and grateful acceptance of Your Love and Forgiveness.
