Today’s Encouragement is, “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.” Psalm 91:14-16 ESV
He Holds Fast to Me –
This is the qualification for God’s blessing and mercy: hold fast to Him in Love. It isn’t our great accomplishments, generous gifts to worthy causes, church support, teaching Bible classes, or even writing daily devotional messages! It is holding fast to God in Love!
We cling to those we love, long to be with them, miss them when we are apart, most at peace and most comfortable in their presence. My friend, in infinitely greater measure, this is true for those who love God!
Learning to love Him and growing in that Love is a lifelong experience; we don’t graduate from this until we leave this earth. And then loving Him becomes a personal experience!
We are chosen, adopted into His family, and reborn as His own, and transformed into new creations, by His sovereign choice and our humble acceptance. And this begins a lifelong journey of loving our God.
Knowing about Him is inadequate. Knowing Him, as our Father, Friend, and Savior, is our privilege. And as we do so, we will find that we naturally Hold Fast To Him in Love.
Father, help us to grow closer to You, recognizing Your Father’s Heart for us, and Your amazing, unconditional Love for us. Help us learn to Hold fast to You! And to understand that You – already – Hold Us Fast.
