But God Chose

Today’s Encouragement is, “But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong.” 1 Corinthians 1:27 ESV

But God chose –

You and I may be, or feel like, ‘a nobody’ in this world, my friends. Foolish and weak in the eyes of the world.

Just as He has done many times before, He Chose:
A donkey to speak to Balaam (Num 22:28)
A stammering, reluctant sheepherder named Moses to deliver an entire nation from slavery. (Ex4:10)
A shepherd boy, David, to destroy the ruthless giant (1 Sam 17:49)

Now consider this list of ‘nobodies’ that God chose to use to announce the arrival of the Savior of the World! –
Mary, an unwed teenage girl from a tiny town, was visited by an angel and chosen to bear the Savior of the world!
Unnamed shepherds who witnessed the ultimate angelic concert and were chosen to be the first to hear the news!
Aged Simeon, whose life was fulfilled at God’s promise fulfilled, simply by holding the infant Jesus…

The examples are everywhere in our book…
God uses ordinary, foolish, weak people and things…
For His wonderful purposes!
To shame, to silence, to shut the mouths of the strong and powerful!

Ordinary… like you and me!
This is who God chooses – He uses! And none of them was perfect!

Father God, thank You for choosing us, just ordinary people, with the Good News of Your Love and Mercy and Grace for all who will believe in You!
