Today’s Encouragement is, “For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son.” Romans 8:29a NLT
Become Like His Son –
What? Become like Jesus? Now we know that God chose us (Colossians 3:12). He has adopted us into His family (Romans 8:15), and now we are His own sons and daughters (John 1:12), and Jesus is our brother (Matthew 12:49)! Pretty amazing!
But this goes beyond just being adopted into God’s family (as if that wasn’t enough!) and clearly says God chose us “to become like His Son,” Jesus!
We immediately respond, “No Way! I can’t do that! That’s impossible!” And that’s correct! We can’t. But the Lord, through His Spirit, makes us! It is His work in us, not our work, effort, or striving, but His Spirit working in our lives to transform us!
“And the Lord-who is the Spirit-makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.” 2 Corinthians 3:18b. “But let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think” Romans 12:2b.
He does this, He makes us; He transforms us!
Our role is to ’let God,’ to accept, be willing, surrender, and cooperate with Him. This is God’s Truth, His plan, and His way! He never fails; He never makes mistakes!
Father, that You would choose us, adopt us, and also work in us to make us become like Jesus, it’s just too much for us to comprehend! Help us to accept Your Truth by faith and also accept everything that You choose to do within us, so that we truly can – Become like Your Son Jesus!
