Today’s Encouragement is “Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again- my Savior and my God!” Psalm 42:11 NLT
I Will –
The Psalm writer recognizes and reveals an important truth. He asks himself, “Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? What’s wrong with me? My attitude stinks, I have lost hope! I feel like giving up.” He’s clearly discouraged, depressed, down, and giving up.
But in asking himself (as if seeing himself in a mirror), he suddenly realizes what he needs to do! He then chooses and decides. (Notice that his circumstances and feelings haven’t changed!) “I know what I need to do! – I will put my hope in God! – I will praise him again! He is my Savior and my God!”
Is it possible that the answer to our discouragement, sadness, grief, depression, sorrow, doubts, fears… and every malady known to man… Is this?
Choose/Decide to put your Hope in God! And Praise Him… again and again… and proclaim Him as your Savior and your God!
My friend, when you find yourself, as we all do at times, at the bottom, in the fog, depressed, sorrowful, doubting, hopeless… consider that there is a better way, a way of victory over defeat! Raise your eyes to Heaven, choose to believe again, choose to have hope in Him, and praise Him for who He is!
Father God, please help your children choose to surrender our emotions and feelings to Your Love and Your Hope. Help us to praise you and so be lifted out of sadness, discouragement, or despair… You are our Hope!
