Satisfy Me

Today’s Encouragement is, “You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise you with songs of joy.” Psalm 63:5 NLT

Satisfy me –

It’s sad, but true, we rarely are… satisfied.

We’re so busy, and perpetually dissatisfied, uncomfortable, unsettled, and unhappy!   This is not the abundant life that Jesus has provided for us!  In fact, this is the state, the condition, from which He came to save us!

Of course, He didn’t suffer and die only to make us happy and satisfied; He did this to save us eternally, and “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10)

In this verse, the singer acknowledges that God is more satisfying than the richest feast, more than any other thing; God is our satisfaction! This implies that a relationship with God is more satisfying than any other thing.  Knowing Him, accepting His Love, hearing His voice, and being in His presence is the greatest satisfaction. And the response to this recognition, this truth, is more and more praise!

Praise is singing, yes, but it also includes spoken and unspoken words of honor and gratitude to God and about God!  When we tell others what God has done, what we believe He will do, how we trust Him, any and all of this is praise! Praise is honoring Him privately, within our hearts, and also publicly, by telling others to look to Him!

And our praise will always bring us closer to Him.  And He satisfies, completely and perfectly.

Thank You, Father, for the soul satisfaction You give us.  You are the fulfillment of our every need and every desire!
