Today’s Encouragement is, “But he [Jesus] holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever. Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:24-25 ESV
To The Uttermost –
This passage is referring to the position of high priest. God established this through Moses, and Aaron was the first high priest. The purpose of this position was to make sacrifices for the sin of the people so that they would be forgiven and freed from the consequences of their sin.
The high priests, like Aaron, were “a copy and shadow of heavenly things” (8:5). They were examples of the true High Priest, Jesus.
Through the earthly high priest, people were forgiven by the things that priest did for them. Now that Jesus, the final and perfect high priest, has come and fulfilled all of the role, we are forgiven and saved to the uttermost!
Jesus lives forever to intercede for you and me! His perfect life and sacrifice have saved us – to the Uttermost!
We aren’t saved just a little bit, not only cleansed from past sin and failures, not just cleaned up for a one-time showing…
We are eternally, perfectly, completely, and faultlessly – Saved to the uttermost!
We are Saved – Past, Present, Future. Now in this earthly life and Eternally in the Eternal life.
Father, help us to rejoice in the true revelation of all that You have done for us and in us through Jesus! Thank You for Jesus, who has saved us to the uttermost.
