What I Have Done

Today’s Encouragement is, “When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, ‘Do you understand what I have done to you?’” John 13:12 ESV

What I Have Done –

Can you imagine the disciples’ shock?  Jesus had washed their filthy feet in silence, then dressed and sat down, and asked them, “Do you understand what I have done to you?”

Our faith is unique among religions. One of the main distinctions is that we believe God is the One who accomplishes our righteousness. He Himself makes us right with Him. It is not about what we do or don’t do.  It’s about Him.

It is not our good deeds, obedience, following rules and laws, doing rituals or sacraments, or reciting prayers or any other action or deed on our part.

Jesus has already done it to us, and for us!  We simply believe and accept what He has done.

He came to earth to save us.

He did it.

He taught, healed, resurrected, fed, and wept.

He did it.

He washed our feet.

He did it.

He suffered the most excruciating brutality, suffered, died, was buried, and returned to life.

He did it!

It never has been or will be about us!  It is all about what He has done (and continues to do) to, for, and in us!

Our part is to believe and accept Him.

Father, Your perfect plan of redemption is so profound and yet so clear.  Help us to believe and accept Jesus, to rely on and rest in the Finished work of our Savior, Jesus.
