Those Who Argue

Today’s Encouragement is, “What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, ‘Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’ Does the pot exclaim, ‘How clumsy can you be?’ Isaiah 45:9 NLT

Those Who Argue –

In this passage, we are compared to clay; God is the Potter.  This analogy is used elsewhere in scripture to demonstrate God’s power and His superiority over us humans. As a potter, He forms the clay, to His design, for His purposes, as He has in His mind, and according to His plans. And His plans are for our good! – (Jeremiah 29:11)

We often are tempted to think, “God doesn’t care about me; if He did, then my life would be easier, better, without any pain or sorrow.” But this thought is like clay complaining to the potter; like us saying to Him, “Stop, you’re doing it wrong!”

The Truth is, God does what He knows is best for us.  He forms us with His hands as a potter forms the clay.

We want to argue with Him, to push back, take control, and question Him! But the clear message of the Bible, God’s Truth, is… we can trust God to do what He knows is best with our lives.

Arguing brings sorrow; acceptance brings contentment.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Thank you, Father, for this example of a right relationship between us. Help us to yield, accept, acknowledge, and even embrace Your plans and purposes for our lives.  We choose to trust You.
